Exodus 3:8 “And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey;”
Reading this passage this morning and enjoyed looking at several instances where the Lord “came down” to have dealings with His people. So thankful for the One who came down from heaven to “seek and to save that which was lost…” (ME!!!)
But also thankful for another time when He didn’t “come down.”
Matthew 27:39-42 says, ” 39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him…”
So thankful that He didn’t come down from the Cross: He didn’t save Himself – but He saved me! Enjoying this wonderful truth this morning reminds me of the old song, “He could have called ten thousand angels.” Beautiful song!
